114, turn right on Esters Blvd. at the stop sign, the entrance to the hotel is on the left. Do not stay on the service road through the stop sign, there is no entrance to the hotel that way. Trust me, I know this.

Waves of Change - Oceans of Opportunity. We have begun planning our fall seminar, Waves of Change – Oceans of Opportunity. It will be held November 15, 2014. We are planning on providing 4–6 recertification points. As soon as the speakers/topics and the location are firmed up we will send out a special communication, but for now please save the date. Julie Cooper, CAP-OM, Vice President, is the coordinator and would love some volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact her at Julie.Cooper@gs.com.
October is shaping up nicely. We are working on something special and different. Stay tuned.
We won’t have a meeting in November because of the seminar, but we hope to see you in December where we are planning a big celebration to end 2014.
Professional Development Needs. The LCC Board is very interested in what you want to learn this year. We have some ideas for the remaining professional development sessions, but we want yours as well. Please let us know your thoughts, click here for a quick survey.
2015 - A New Year. January – March will be business as usual, a professional development program and networking each month. In April we will celebrate Administrative Professionals Week (APW). This past April we celebrated our 25th anniversary and didn’t celebrate APW. Since the April meeting will be the last Las Colinas chapter meeting we want to celebrate APW in a big way. I am envisioning door prizes, gifts, great food and even better fellowship. Several LCC members attended the Big D chapter’s good-bye brunch on Saturday. Talk about a history, 67 years. Be sure and look on Facebook for pictures. It was bitter-sweet, but I am glad I was there to meet past presidents and members of Big D. It was an impressive event.
April 2015 Education Opportunity. There
will be another seminar, like our November one, in April, hosted by Arlington
Golden Circle. The event will be a great way to get more recertification
points. As soon as I hear more about this event, I will pass the information on
TEC2015. I hope we can send some LCC members to Austin through a scholarship. Stay tuned for more information. These training are well worth the time and money.
Program sessions and registration will open up in the fall. Check it out here.
Texas-Louisiana Diviaion Annual Meeting. Save the date for this one as well. May 21-24, 2015 in New Orleans, Louisiana. This will also be the last division annual meeting, so make plans to attend. New Orleans is a great historic city. I sure don’t want to miss this event. And, I hope to see you there!
Louisville 2015. This has historically been called EFAM and is being renamed in the revitalization of IAAP, but for now it is being called Louisville 2015. Louisville, Kentucky, July 26–29, at the Kentucky Intl Convention Center. Check here for more information as it becomes available.
Final Thoughts. I have to admit the changes that are being made to IAAP caught me off guard and I wasn’t thrilled. But I have so much to be thankful for because of IAAP that I have to stick with it to see where the road we are on leads. I have faith in the folks at headquarters. They were brave and selfless in their pursuit to revitalize IAAP. I know the decisions they made were hard. I will do what I can support the new IAAP. And, if it is in the cards, help make it a better IAAP. I hope upon hope, you are there with me. Let’s have some fun, learn some cool stuff, experience new things, and be better for all of it.
